This policy explains how cookies and similar technologies are used on www.lifeincommunity.org.uk. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how Life in Community CIC handles personal information more generally.
What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website places on your device to make the site work, to remember your choices, or to collect information about how the site is used. Similar technologies, such as pixels and local storage, do comparable things. Some cookies are set by the website you are visiting ("first-party" cookies) and some are set by other organisations whose content appears on the page ("third-party" cookies).
Cookies we use
Life in Community's website is a simple information site. We do not use analytics, tracking or advertising cookies, and we do not build profiles of visitors. The only cookies that may be set are the following.
Strictly necessary
Our hosting provider may set a technical cookie that keeps the website running reliably, for example to balance traffic across servers. These cookies do not identify you and cannot be switched off, as the site would not work properly without them.
Third-party services on our Contact page
Our Contact page can use two services provided by Google. Neither loads automatically — each is only contacted if you choose to use it.
- Google reCAPTCHA — protects our contact form from spam and automated abuse. It loads only once you start filling in the form. Google may then set cookies and collect information about your device and behaviour on the page to tell humans apart from bots. See Google's Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
- Google Maps — an interactive map showing where our centre is. The Contact page shows a static placeholder with our address; the map is only loaded from Google if you click "Show interactive map". Google may then set cookies and receive your IP address.
Fonts
The site's typefaces are served from our own website, not from a third party, so displaying them sets no cookies and shares nothing with anyone else.
How to control cookies
You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you block all cookies, block third-party cookies only, or delete cookies that have already been set. The "Help" menu in your browser, or the pages below, explain how:
Blocking cookies may affect how parts of the website work — for example, the map on our Contact page may not display, or the contact form's spam protection may not run. You can still call or email us instead.
For more general information about cookies and your choices, see the Information Commissioner's Office guidance at ico.org.uk.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy if the services or cookies used on the website change. Any updated version will be posted on this page.
